Lars wallin - fashion stories

In an updated version of successful exhibition 'Lars Wallin - Fashion Stories', unique creations in exclusive materials from Wallin's near-25 years career as a couturier are presented. The exhibition highlights one of the few Swedish designers who works with couture on a high artistic level, where craftsmanship and quality are in focus.

Lars Wallin is best known for his glamorous gowns for parties and weddings, which are made in a classical cut with a modern twist in the typical Wallin spirit - a cool, rock 'n' roll attitude. During his career, Wallin has also designed clothes for a number of artists, including Anne-Lie Rydé, Carola, and Jill Johnson. The Crown Princess Victoria and Princess Madeleine wore his creations for the 2015 Nobel Banquet.

The exhibition is centred around four themes - couture, handicraft, bridale, and pop music artistry. Lars Wallin has created a selection of works that are of personal significance to him. At the Textile Museum of Sweden, the exhibition has been upgraded with some of Wallin's very latest creations, as well as stage clothing that has not been displayed before. One new attraction is a series of examples from his latest collection, 'Limited Edition' - a new concept that is somewhere between couture and ready-made clothing. In addition to finished garments, visitors can also see sketches, sewing prototypes and handle fabric samples. Through this, Wallin wants to create a better understandning of craftmanship and the design process, and give an insight into studio work. He hopes that the exhibition will stimulate visitors' imaginations and inspire them to dare to express themselves more individually through their clothing.

The premiere of the travelling exhibition was held at Prince Eugen's residence, Waldemarsudde, in 2011, and the exhibition has since toured museums and art galleries throughout Sweden.
